Corsets: because every woman has a problem of Figure

Mention of these vintage ads (since 1940) proclaim: "Every woman has a problem figure!"

These old ads (from Corsietere) shows great similarities with the marketing mix today. This brainwashing advertising (complete with ridiculous before and after pictures) assured the women who were not thin enough or attractive enough for the world. Sound familiar?

A comparison Modern Day
In my mind, corsets and belts have always been in the same category as pantyhose. They are tight, uncomfortable, and make woman seems unnatural. Although once considered necessary for all women, it is my hope that these oppressive clothing can be left in the past.

Have you ever worn a corset?
They are horrible! I almost fainted when looking for a dress with a corset tie in the back. It 'was a horrible experience to say the least. I've had it for about 5 minutes. The very idea of wearing one for a whole day makes me … be 'without breath. Fortunately, it is not the "norm" to wear a corset.

An uncomfortable reality
But pantyhose? I'm afraid I'm still in regular use.

I am stunned when I hear that women tights are "mandatory" in the office. It could be worse, I suppose. At least we are no longer limited to corsets monstrous.

We're making progress? You decide.
